West Africa Semiconductor Design & Talent Accelerator (WASDTA)
Ghana · Greater AccraDigital transformation, semiconductors · Semiconductor workforce development, chip design and verification services, and applied hardware innovation
A 36-month platform that trains semiconductor design engineers in Ghana and Nigeria on shared cloud design tools, FPGA labs and university nodes, and sells chip design and verification services from Accra.
Justificação
WASDTA builds semiconductor engineering capacity in West Africa through design, verification and embedded systems, which need people more than capital, rather than chip fabrication. Over 36 months it sets up an academy, 24 certified trainers, cloud design tools, FPGA labs, four university nodes and a services centre in Accra.

Oportunidade de investimento
Estrutura da transação
A Ghana special purpose vehicle raising USD 3.6m in catalytic and recoverable grant funding for a 36-month programme.
Utilização dos fundos
Cloud design tools and compute, FPGA and remote labs, office set-up, delivery teams, trainer certification and a contingency float.
Base de receitas
Design and verification services, institutional subscriptions, workforce cohorts and applied hardware programmes; USD 0.88m of services revenue projected in Year 3.¹
O pedido
Catalytic funders for USD 3.6m: a USD 2.5m grant, a USD 0.85m recoverable grant for the services centre and a USD 0.25m float.
Porque é financiável
Design work needs people more than capital and costs far less than a fabrication plant; no comparable programme was found in Ghana.
Revenue is modelled to cover 63% of operating costs in Year 3 and 105% in Year 5, with bear, base and bull cases.¹
Milestone tranches, ring-fenced accounts, asset-locked equipment and no dividends until the services facility is repaid.
The four lab nodes transfer to the host universities at Month 36, and the 24 certified trainers stay in the region.
